Where telecommunications are going ?

May 25th, 2007

A few years ago I have worked for a telecommunication company and today surfing the web I just remembered about that nice days, and in the same time noticed how far the telecommunications equipment has advanced. If in the past was a real effort to acquire and maintain such equipment, today everything has become very easy.Even the small business can acquire and maintain telecommunication equipment using services provided by companies like First Point Inc to name the first one I found doing a quick search(not Google:)).

Telecommunications Cables and telecom repair services have been very expensive in the past. Now you can get any telecommunications equipment and related services at very affordable prices.A call, or email and you are on track. In the past to replace a cable I have to wait over 3 months until my acquisition request get the approval and arrived to our company.
However, the things get changed and all we have to do now is to enjoy those new toys and excellent services provided by today companies(well most of them :) ).

WiPeer - Free Wi-Fi Software for peer to peer sharing

April 20th, 2007

Hi,

Just found this free networking tool which looks pretty cool. This possibility is already present on the in last version of Windows but for many people is quite hard to setup and I have all the time problems by getting the connections up in automatic mode. I have to make it manually all the time.At home I use this mode to share the internet connection from one of my laptops with other computers around the house without using an Access Point for that.
No experience yet with this tool, but I will definitely give it a try because looks promising.I will come back with some more informations.

You can read more about it here : http://www.wipeer.com/

The tool has been released a few days ago by Technion-Israel Institute of Technology scientists and is available as free download from the wipeer.com website.

As they said:

WiPeer was born as a research project at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, to provide peer-to-peer Wi-Fi and home/office networking based collaborative applications such as multiplayer interactive games, chat, search, file sharing, and eventually also collaborative productivity tools. This is through direct communication between the devices and without going through any third party infrastructure or gateway, and without relying on a central server.

Enjoy.
