Google preparing to police web - Another sheriff in Town ?
Well, looks like the “We want to reorganize the world” statement of Google guys is coming one step closer. As Nicholas Carr says on his blog at roughtype.com , “Google appears to be readying a plan to police the web. If the plan goes forward, Google will use new software to automatically identify compromised web pages in its database and label them as “potentially harmful” in its search results. Because being labeled as suspicious by Google could devastate a site’s traffic, the move would raise the security stakes for site owners dramatically.”
As the intention is a good one and meaning to protect the surfers, I am worrying what kind of system can be precise enough and not harm legitimate websites? We all know that are a lot of applications out there, some of them running at the border of legality but they are still legitimate ones. More than that the big question is: They will do it globally ? They can cover all world countries from the laws point of view ? How will be the authority that will judge if someone is bad or not ? We all know that sheriff’s protect the law but they don’t judge the criminals.
However read the full story here and let’s hope that this project will be in the eyes of the right authorities all over the world.I don’t wan to wake-up in a morning and go where Google says to go and access the websites they leave me only, just because that’s the Google way.

Just another addSense site.
